I have been haunted by a photo I saw a few weeks ago. The photo depicts an ematiated little girl in Sudan. She has collapsed and a vulture is waiting for her to die. I CANNOT stop thinking about this little girl. It's all I think about lately. I lie awake at night thinking about her. The photographer is Kevin Carter and won a Pulitzer in 1994 for this photo. The photographer chased the vulture away, but does not know what happened to that little girl. Why didn't the photographer pick her up and help her? I guess he may have asked himself that question as he was plagued by guilt and committed suicide shortly after this picture was taken.

I wish I could go back in time and help her. But in 1994 the last thing I was thinking about was people, especially toddlers & babies, starving to death due to civil war and famine. But this fall I will donate to both Share our Strength and Action Against Hunger. I hope you do, too.
