Memorial Day Weekend at the Cottage

Went down camp Friday night after work. Work on Friday was nice, I picked up one of my new Interpreters and one of my favorite park supervisors and we went to Douglas State Forest for a training session on interpreting historic stone walls. It was great! The downside is that I drove for almost 4 hours on Friday as I headed down to the Cape for two days.

We celebrated Thea's second birthday with a cook-out and some cake.

We took the dogs (Hank, Marley, and Koa) on a long walk through the woods on on the bike trails.

It was a cool weekend, but we could not get this water baby to stop swimming!

Took a walk around the pond with Mom, Dad, and Hank. Dad didn't walk, he paddled. So cute!

Took a break to take pictures of spring wildflowers and walk out over the water on a fallen tree.

There's No Place Like Home

So, I'm feeling confident enough to post this - - - Jay and I are buying a house! We've gone through all the stages: offer, home inspection, purchase & sale, wrote a big ass check, got approved financing, insurance binder, etc, etc, etc. We are planning to close on June 1st and we CAN'T WAIT!

Some details: It's in Lakeville, MA on a side street that overlooks a huge field (like 100 acres or more), the road turns into a dirt road about a half mile after our house, the house is about 2300 square feet, 2.5 acres, has 2 1/2 baths, 3 bedrooms, and an in-law apartment (in-law apartment does not have its own kitchen - my mom has first dibs!).

I love the "Florida Room" - that's what the realtor called it, but it's really a three-season patio thingy. I also love the yard and cannot wait to get my hands dirty. Jay is jonesing to attack this place! It is a bit dated (a bit of shag rug, linoleum in the living room, funky wallpaper, etc), but anyone who knows us, knows we love the vintage and retro look. The sellers were psyched when they found out we wanted to keep it just as it is!

OMG!!!!!

Spring!!!!

Haven't posted in a long time as I've been enjoying spring! A couple days ago, I was driving and up ahead I could see a woman speed-walking. She suddenly stopped, took one step backwards, turned her head....and stuck it into a huge lilac bush growing right along the sidewalk. I could actually see her take a huge breath of their yumminess! And then she started walking like she never stopped. It seriously took about 3 seconds to go down, but it really made me smile!

I love lilacs! I love spring!

Oh, and I think Jay and I are buying a house! Woot-woot!
